Baton Rouge, LA. June 18, 1862. City of Baton Rouge Municipal Scrip Note, One Dollar. Unlisted municipal issue. Issued municipal currency note payable to bearer at the Treasurer’s Office and receivable for all debts due the City of Baton Rouge. Printed in black ink on thin paper with ornate typographic borders, large vertical “ONE DOLLAR” denomination panels at the sides, and a detailed central allegorical vignette depicting a female figure; the note bears a handwritten serial number 3470 at upper right and manuscript signatures at the lower margin for the Treasurer and Mayor, with printed date at right. The reverse is blank, as issued. The condition ranges from Choice Fine to VF condition with typical folds, light soiling, and age toning consistent with circulation. Printer not indicated on the note.
