New Orleans, LA. October 27, 1862. City of New Orleans Municipal Scrip Note, Twenty-Five Cents. Unlisted municipal issue. Issued municipal fractional currency note payable to bearer, denominated Twenty-Five Cents, printed in black and green ink on thin paper with ornate borders, multiple “25” denomination counters, and classical allegorical vignettes at top with additional animal vignette at lower right; red serial numbers "34883" appear at left and right with manuscript signatures at the lower margin for city officials. The reverse is blank, as issued. The condition ranges from Fine to Choice Fine condition, with folds, wear, and age toning consistent with circulation. Printed by American Bank Note Co., New York.
