New York. 1840 Letter from B.H. Thompson to wife Mary detailing his trip from New York City along the Hudson up Albany and to Niagara Falls to attend a World Convention. Thompson discusses with his wife his views on slavery in America and how he believes a solution would be for the south to secede from the nation. He also mentions his "old acquaintance" Martin Van Buren and how he believes he is the only right choice for the next President. Lot includes hand written letter, brief summary of the letter, and 2 typed up copies of the letter as well. VF-XF condition.
