Trio of letters with envelopes, all dated from 1900, introducing the famed lithographer and engraver, Louis Prang, to prominent gentlemen upon his trip to Great Britain, as was custom. Mr. Henry George Jr., on behalf of Prang, wrote to three gentlemen in Britain describing Prang's character and place in the American printing world. The letters are dated Ft. Hamilton, N.Y., April 11, 1900, and include the corresponding envelopes that are also written in George Jr's hand. The recipients were: James C. Durant of Canterbury; Thomas Walker Esq. of Birmingham; and John Paul, editor of "The Single Tax," of Glasgow. Attractive trio of Henry George Jr. and Louis Prang related items. Louis Prang (March 12, 1824 _ June 15, 1909) was an American printer, lithographer, publisher, and Georgist. He is sometimes known as the "father of the American Christmas card". Henry George Jr. (November 3, 1862 _ November 14, 1916) was a United States Representative from New York and the son of the American political economist Henry George (1839_1897).
