Poland & Germany. 1940. 1 Mark, P-NL, issued banknote, The Lodz Ghetto was the second largest Jewish ghetto, and was located in Lodz Poland which was renamed Litzmannstadt by the Germans to honor a WWI general. The ghetto was sealed off from other areas of the city in May 1940. Seven scrip denominations of notes were produced, including this and the previous lot. All were signed by Rumkowski as Der Aelteste der Juden in Litzmannstadt., Ch. XF to AU. (From the Allen Berk Collection)
