The auction will take place at the 3 WEST CLUB at 3 W. 51st Street (at Fifth Avenue), New York, NY 10019
Boston, MA, ND (ca. 1880's). Image of Morgan in white uniform with "Boston" in arch on front with tied up collar. 5.2 by 7.2 inches. Embossed photographer imprint "Homer - Boston" on lower right of white border, back is blank with "Harold" handwritten on it. XF condition. There is a good possibility according to our sources that this is a photograph of James "Red" Morgan, a third baseman for the 1906 Boston Americans which was a predecessor team to the Boston Red Sox. He also was a college ball player at Notre Dame and Georgetown. At the time of his death in 1981, he was the oldest former big league baseball player alive at that time. Scarce Boston baseball player image. (*Thanks to Keith Olbermann)
