Merida, Mexico, 1904. 4000 Pesos in Gold, Issued 2nd of Exchange, Black with no underprint on white paper, allegorical seated woman on left with ornate title on top, 6 adhesive Mexican revenue stamps are on back for 2; 5; 25 and 50 centavos, corresponding bank in New York, Payable to Sr.Jose Vales Castillo. Choice XF condition. Rare issued Homer Lee printed bill of exchange. The significance of this exchange is that the first 1890-92 Issue for this bank was printed by Homer Lee BNC and evidently this exchange was a part of the business the bank held with HLBNC. This is about as close as anyone can get to owning anything related to the first Issues of this bank. HLBNC.
