Freehold , NJ. Lot of 2 Notes, Includes $1 & $50, 1858, Wait 643 & 652, Haxby NJ-160-G-28 , R-3 and R-7. Two issued notes. The Monmouth Bank opened in 1824 and closed in the 1830s. It was reorganized in the early 1840s and failed in 1843. Both notes are printed in black, with no reverse printing. The $1 note(Wait 643) has a central vignette of Washington on horseback at Monmouth, 28th June, 1778. It also has a small oval portrait of Hamilton at the left and a small oval portrait of Lafayette at the right. The $50 note(Wait 652) has a vignette at the upper left showing two women seated with a treasure chest. It also has a small vignette of the Monmouth Bank building at the lower center, a small oval male portrait vignette at the left, and an oval portrait vignette of Elias Boudinot at the right.
