Helena, Montana & Rochester/Geneseo, New York, ca. 1880s–1890s, Group of 3 Specimen Bank Drafts by American Bank Note Company. All 3 feature the well known "Reaper" vignette engraved by James Smillie, The lot includes: The Merchants National Bank, Helena, Montana, payable through Ninth National Bank of New York, ornate border design; Monroe County Savings Bank, Rochester, NY, payable through First National Bank of New York; and Genesee Valley National Bank, Geneseo, NY, payable through Importers & Traders National Bank of New York, featuring allegorical reaper vignette at left and pastoral vignette at right. All are Specimens with serial numbers “00000,” punch cancels, and red Specimen overprints. A beautifully matched trio of 19th-century proof drafts showing ABNC’s artistry in bank forms. all are in XF to Uncirculated condition. American Bank Note Company, New York. (3)
