U.S., Peru. 1860's-1870's. 12 pages of early National Banknote Company vignettes used on various obsolete and foreign banknotes, checks, drafts, stock certificates, documents and security printed items. Close to 170 proof vignettes. Topics include railroads, allegorical figures, bank and business titles, bond coupons, borders, medallions, numerals, notable men and countless other interesting items. High Lights include banknote proofs from Peru, El Banco de Tacna,1/2 Sole, P-S381, front and back proofs; 2 Soles, P-S383, back proof; ; Peru, El Banco de Arequipa, 40 Centavos,P-S116, front proof of frame without vignette or text with additional proofs of title and text and back proof; 2 Soles, P-S118, front proof of frame without vignette or text with additional proofs of title and text and back proof; Peru, Banco Garantizador, P-S164 and P-S167 1 Sole to 10 Soles, all color trial proof backs in black. There is also a considerable amount of design elements and text for the front proofs of these notes. In addition, there are numerous proofs of the design elements, text, borders, titles and vignettes including "Flagman" and "Breakman" and numerous others. Condition ranges from almost good to fine condition with archival notations in ink on a considerable number of the vignettes. The plate numbers listed on the vignettes or written close to the vignettes range from # 3184 to 3370. Another rare group of obsolete and foreign banknote related vignettes. NBNC.
