U.S. 1870's. 2 pages of early National Banknote Company vignettes used on various banknotes, checks, drafts, stamps, stock certificates, documents and security printed items. 24 proof vignettes are present. Topics include Native Americans, allegorical figures, railroads, shipping, steamboats and schooners, eagles, Civil War Battles and other interesting items. Vignettes include "Home"; "Canal lock"; "Lucy's Pets; :Carlo" the dog; "Old Abe" the eagle; "Scouting Party"; "Iron Works"; "The Depot"; "Off the Harbor" and others. Condition ranges from VG to XF condition with archival notations in ink on a considerable number of the vignettes. The plate numbers listed on the vignettes or written close to the vignettes are from a different numbering system that range from 46076 to 49522. Another rare group of proof vignettes. NBNC.
