U.S., Mexico. 1970's. 4 pages of early National Banknote Company foreign banknotes and proof vignettes used on various banknotes, stamps, checks, drafts, stock certificates, documents and security printed items. Close to 60 proof vignettes. Topics include allegorical figures, bond coupons, borders, medallions, numerals and other interesting items. High Lights include banknote proofs from Mexico, El Banco De Chihuahua, 25 Centavos, P-S115A, front and back proofs in almost fine condition, unpriced in Pick; 50 Centavos, P-S116, front and back proofs that have internal paper tears; U.S. Private Die Match Stamp Wm. Gates Sons, 3 cents, RO94 cut down proof and essay 1 cents die proof of only one strip of RO94 with plate number, possibly unique. There are numerous proofs of the design elements, text, borders, titles and vignettes including "Passaic Falls". In addition, there are 6 compound proofs of lathe work engravings and medallions possibly used on Internal revenue Tax stamps, since all of the plates have listed "U.S.Internal rev" with plate number, worthy of further study. Condition ranges from almost good to fine condition with archival notations in ink on a considerable number of the vignettes. The plate numbers listed on the vignettes or written close to the vignettes range from # 3886 to 4330. Another rare group of obsolete and foreign banknote related vignettes. NBNC.
