Hoboken, New Jersey, 1827. $1 and $2 Issued Obsolete Banknote Pair, Both are black print with portraits of men at left and right and singular person at center, S/Ns 1264 pp A and 2090 pp C, Notes are in Fine to VF condition and printed by A B & C Durang Wright & Co. Issued in 1827 by the Hoboken Banking and Grazing Co., an early and unusually chartered New Jersey institution that combined banking with livestock operations. The company was active during Hoboken’s formative development period and is often noted for its speculative financial practices, making early notes from this bank both scarce and historically distinctive.
