New York and London. 1824 to 1857. Lot of 6 Issued Bills of Exchange representing mid-nineteenth-century international trade and finance between New York and London. The group includes first, second, and third exchange instruments payable at sight or after stated days, documenting routine commercial settlements between American merchants and British banking houses. Designs feature engraved borders, denomination panels, allegorical and figural vignettes, manuscript entries, endorsements, and period cancellations typical of early international banking instruments. Conditions range from Choice Fine to Very Fine overall, with expected folds, toning, ink offset, and handling wear consistent with active commercial use. (6). Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted.
