Frankfort, Kentucky, ND (ca. 1900-20s). The National Branch Bank of Kentucky, established in the late 19th century, was part of the national banking system created under the National Banking Act of 1863. Black on white paper with dramatic spread winged eagle on top, Kentucky arms on bottom and notable person on lower left. The check is made out to the cashier of the "National Park Bank of New York", with counterfeit protective numeral devices in all 4 borders. The counterfoil is attached and folded back on the left and "ORIGINAL" is printed in red. It provided essential financial services, including deposits and loans, to individuals and businesses in Kentucky, supporting local economic development. Over time, like many banks of its era, it likely experienced changes in ownership or merged with other institutions due to industry consolidation. Its operations played a role in the broader evolution of American banking, reflecting its significance in regional commerce and financial stability during its active years.
