Alaska to Alabama, California to Lot of 170+ I/C, I/U, and Specimen, Remainder, and Specimen Checks, Money Orders, Exchanges, and Related Financial Documents, spanning early pre–Civil War banking through twentieth-century corporate finance. Includes: California and Colorado items such as D.O. Mills & Co. Bankers, Sacramento, 1859 gold-rush era I/C check; McLaughlin & Ryland Bankers, San Jose, 1872 I/C check with imprinted RN-C1 revenue; California Street Cable Railroad Co., 1890 I/C check; United States Depositary, Denver, 1903 War Department I/C check; and American Bank of Alaska ND (1910s) U/U check. Southern and Northeastern material includes four I/C First of Exchanges from 1840 issued in Mobile, Alabama and payable in New York, tied to early cotton-trade remittances; 24 Wells Fargo Bank I/C checks and money orders from 1964 to 1972 issued in California with foreign adhesive revenues from Italy and Panama; two American Express Co. Specimen POC checks from the 1970s to 1980s printed by ABNC, with carbon copies and detachable receipt cards; one Rogers Peet Co. Specimen merchandise order certificate, 1930s, Boston and New York; and six Gulf Oil Corp. I/U checks and registers from 1954 to 1957 connected to Texas oil and gas royalty payments. Completing the group is a substantial archive of 100+ Hanover National Bank I/C checks, New York, 1918, each with facsimile RN-G imprinted revenues and POC cancellations.
