New Jersey, Michigan, and Maryland, 1850s to 1870s. Lot of 9 Issued Financial Documents consisting of cancelled life insurance policies and banking stock certificates, Includes: Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, Newark, New Jersey (6 cancelled life insurance policies, various policyholders, all on engraved “Charter Perpetual” forms with revenue stamps); First National Bank of Plymouth, Michigan; National Marine Bank of Baltimore, Maryland; and Drovers & Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, Maryland (cancelled). The insurance policies feature detailed allegorical vignettes and bold typographic elements typical of mid-19th-century American insurance engraving, while the bank stock certificates display classic banking imagery including maritime scenes, agricultural motifs, and ornate borders. Several items show endorsements, revenue stamps, punched or manuscript cancellation markings, and period signatures. Conditions range from VG to XF overall, with expected folds, toning, edge wear, and handling consistent with age. (9). Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted.
