New York and Michigan. lot includes 13 pieces, all I/C and in fine condition, some with damage to margins and splitting. Highlights include Kalamazoo, Allegan and Grand Rapids Railroad Co. 1888 $1000 I/C 5% Bond and Supplemental Agreement #75 & #76 Bonds in brown (2); Utica and Black River 1890 $1000 I/C 4% First Mortgage Gold Bond in brown, some sequential (9); and Carthage and Adirondack Railway Co. 1892 $1000 I/C 4% First Mortgage Gold Bond in green (2). The Kalamazoo, Allegan and Grand Rapids Railroad bonds are both signed by Jeptha Wade. Jeptha Homer Wade was an American industrialist, philanthropist, and one of the founding members of Western Union Telegraph. Wade was born in Romulus, New York, the youngest of nine children of Jeptha and Sarah Wade. Carthage & Adirondack Railway bonds are both signed by Chauncey Depew. Chauncey Mitchell Depew was an attorney for Cornelius Vanderbilt's railroad interests, president of the New York Central Railroad System, and a United States Senator from New York from 1899 to 1911.
