1865. 25 Shs. Rare issued stock certificate from early banknote engraving company. Green Border with ornate "USBN" monograms on 4 corners and on middle bottom. Patriotic allegorical woman with eagle and shield. Signed by Alfred Jones as president. He was born in England and came to the U.S. sometime before 1834. In 1834 he was serving as an apprentice with RWH&E in Albany. In 1866 he became president of USBNC (the earlier unrelated company), from 1868 to 1870 he held the position of Vice-president with British American BNC. He formed a partnership with W.C.Smillie and Francis Edmonds in 1857 and in 1859 it was absorbed by American BNC. Jones became superintendent of the Picture Department of ABNC after this move. He is also known as one of the pioneers in the development of the procedure known as the "Halftone" process. In 1900 he was struck by a hansom (Horsedrawn) cab and later died from his injuries. Unique in archive and extremely rare early ABNC related company. Never seen before. USBNC
