San Francisco, CA. Lot of 15 pieces, all the same: 1869-1870; all have various denominations, I/C Checks, Black text with black border, North Pacific Transportation Company with ship in counterfoil at left, Imprinted Orange Revenue, RN-B-16 (1 example) and RN-B17 (14 examples). The Bank of California was opened in San Francisco, California, on July 4, 1864, by William Chapman Ralston and Darius Ogden Mills. It was the first commercial bank in the Western United States, the second-richest bank in the nation, and considered instrumental in developing the American Old West. (15)
