Pair of Issued and Cancelled Bonds both signed by William .Vanderbilt. 1) New York and Harlem Railroad Co., 1900 $10,000 Registered 3 1/2% Gold Bond, Black print on green border and under tint, Punched out cancelled along bottom, VF-XF condition. 2) Pine Creek Railway Co. (Formerly Jersey Shore, Pine Creek and Buffalo Railway Co.), 1885 $1,000 6% first Mortgage Bond, Black print on brown border and under tint, Punched out cancelled at bottom, VF-XF condition. William Kissam Vanderbilt I (December 12, 1849 _ July 22, 1920) was an American heir, businessman, philanthropist and horse breeder. Born into the Vanderbilt family, he managed his family's railroad investments. Vanderbilt inherited $55 million (equal to about $1.5 billion today). from his father. He managed his family railroad investments. In 1879, after taking over P. T. Barnum's Great Roman Hippodrome which was on railroad property by Madison Square Park, he renamed the facility Madison Square Garden. The Pine Creek bond also has signatures from William H. Vanderbilt, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and Alice G. Vanderbilt on the reverse.
