Pennsylvania. $1,000 Specimen 5% Consolidated Mortgage Bond, Black print on brown border and under tint on horizontal format, Multiple vignettes on certificate: Locomotive at top left, Asa Packer at top right, and busy dock scene at bottom, Specimen overprints, POC's, and blue stamp reducing interest from 5% to 4%, VF-XF condition, ABNC. Asa Packer (December 29, 1805 _ May 17, 1879) was an American businessman who pioneered railroad construction, was active in Pennsylvania politics, and founded Lehigh University. He was a conservative and religious man who reflected the image of the typical Connecticut Yankee. He served two terms in the United States House of Representatives (1853_1857).
