Philippines. 1920. 50 Pesos, P-49, Unreleased Banknote. Black on green and pink underprint with portrait of General Henry W. Lawton at left. S/N A154111A pp A. Printer: USBEP. PMG graded About Uncirculated 55 with comment "rust lightened." This banknote was never officially issued. 10,000 pieces were captured and issued during WW II by the Japanese (serial #90001-100000). The others were looted by Moros, in the province of Mindanao, who sold them at one-tenth of their face value. This accounts for their relative availability.
