Canton, China, 1913. 10 Dollars, P-S2399s S/m#K55-13, Specimen Banknote, used as the Base note for the Bank of China 1913 Provisional Issue, P-29A. Brown on m/c underprint with large building at center, Back is brown with denomination at left and right, S/N 00000, Specimen overprints and POCs, PMG graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, ABNC. These notes were never issued for Kwangtung. They were overprinted as a provisional issue for the Bank of China. Only specimens and proofs appear without the overprint. All are rare. Tied as highest graded out of 13 graded in the PMG census, none higher. This is the first specimen to be auctioned in 9 years, with 3 specimens having been offered previously, the last in 2015.
