Ireland. 1866-1867, $20, Partially issued with large margins, Black on green underprint, portrait of "Barry" at lower left and "Montgomery" at lower right with dramatic eagle on mountain in middle, small red seal at left with clover leaf, S/N 43505-4505, back green, printed by Continental Bank Note Co., Choice to Gem Uncirculated or better with bright colors, crisp paper, and sharp corners. The Fenian Brotherhood were a committed group of Irish nationalists who attempted an unsuccessful rebellion in the 1860s. Their leaders continued to harass the British for years and help inspire and participate in the eventual successful rebellion against Britain in the early 20th century.
