Dyatkovo, Russia,æ50 Kopeks, 1867 Pick UNL. The Maltsovsky factories were located on the Bolva River in the Bryansk Oblast. They were involved with iron foundries, machine plants, porcelain, glass, and paper factories. It was an early "Industrial Empire" which was created by Sergey Ivanovich Matlsov. Almost 20,000 inhabitants in his serfdom were employed by him. It was one of the most productive economic zones in Russia. Due to financial hardships in Russia in the 1850Ís and 1860Ís led to a shortage of cash, with a lack of even copper coins in circulation. Matlsov had to issue scrip to facilitate pay and trade in his district which had 20 or more factories at its height. Matlsov designated on the note as "His Excellency S.I. Matlsov." Rare note and only rumored to exist for many years.
