Lot of 3 notes, The issued notes are 1839 dated, Includes $1, VG and faded, wait Unlisted; $5, a contemporary counterfeit, VG, Wait 2160; and 1863 Merchant Scrip Remainder, 3 cents, Wait 2147, R-5. The Salem Banking Co. was originally incorporated in 1822 as the Salem Steam Mill and Banking Company. In 1865, the bank became The Salem National Banking Company. The $5 note is a contemporary counterfeit. The 3 cent note is unissued scrip note. (3)
