Morse: 1965 Envelope Cover commemorating the centenary of the International Telecommunication Union, featuring portraits of Alexander Graham Bell and Morse, also includes a commemorative adhesive stamp and a Washington, D.C. handstamp; Pair of unused postcards featuring photographs of Locust Grove, the Young-Morse National Historic Site in Poughkeepsie, New York; Cuban Cigar Co. colorful and embossed label, 9 x 6.75 inches, with side-by-side portraits of a young and old Professor Morse; American Cable Co. 1877 25 Shares spuriously filled out, Capital Stock Certificate, S/N 103; and a 6-page Biography of Samuel F. B. Morse from the Young-Morse Historic Site, printed in 1982. All are in VF condition. Samuel Finley Breese Morse (April 27, 1791 - April 2, 1872) was an American inventor and painter. After having established his reputation as a portrait painter, in his middle age Morse contributed to the invention of a single-wire telegraph system based on European telegraphs. He was a co-developer of Morse code and helped to develop the commercial use of telegraphy. (6)
