Pennsylvania, 1767, witnessed 1772. Document issued to Samuel Wallis by the Proprietaries Land-Office of Pennsylvania for "three hundred acres of land on the north side of the Chestnut Ridge..." Wallis was a Philadelphia merchant and served as a land agent for the Holland Land Co., a group of Dutch capitalists that also advanced large sums of money to Robert Morris, one of the major financiers of the American Revolution. Samuel Wallis was also the largest landowner in the area at the time, with this document being a testament to that history. Document has also been signed by witnesses. Unique piece of Pennsylvania history that pre-dates the American Revolution.
