Pennsylvania, 1794. Document issued to Solomon Maxfield by the Land-Office of Pennsylvania for a "tract of land containing four hundred acres, bounded on the West by land the same day granted to George Trasey..." Maxfield was a merchant from New Castle, Delaware who acquired acres of land in the counties of Luzerne or Northumberland in the late 1700s, an area that would be known for its anthracite coal mines. This document was printed and sold by Joseph Crukshank, and is in fine condition. Rare piece of early Pennsylvania history.
