New Jersey, (Offices in New York City), 1886. $500 Specimen 8% Second Mortgage Gold Coupon Bond, Black text with blue border and underprint, Beehive depicted at center bottom. Red specimen overprints, 0000 serial numbers, and POCs. VF condition with archival reinforcements, ABNC. The Southern Improvement Company, received a deed in February, 1886, from J. M. Tierman to a certain piece of land, adjoining the city of Asheville, North Carolina, and at once executed a mortgage upon the land to The Central Trust Company, of New York, as security for certain bonds. A sale was provided for in the mortgage in case of default in the payment of interest or principal of the bonds. This is a specimen of one of the bonds issued using property in Ashville as collateral. Rare and desirable Asheville, North Carolina real estate historical bond.
