New York, 1882. Standard Oil Trust Certificate, I/C Stock Certificate, Signed by William Payne, Flagler, Bostwick and J. D. Rockefeller, VF to XF condition. Press Cancelled, S/N 202, Black text with green border, U.S. Capitol Building at top center. Signatures have been cancelled. FBN. Signatures are: J. D. Rockefeller as President; J. A. Bostwick as Treasurer; H. M. Flagler as Secretary. Very rare set of signatures. Jabez Abel Bostwick (September 23, 1830 - August 16, 1892) was an early oil pioneer and magnate, and when John D. Rockefeller formed the Standard Oil Company, Mr. Bostwick aided in its organization and became its first Treasurer. John Davison Rockefeller (July 8, 1839 - May 23, 1937) was the guiding force behind the creation and development of the Standard Oil Company, which grew to dominate the oil industry and became one of the first big trusts in the United States. He is widely considered the wealthiest American of all time and the richest person in modern history. Standard Oil was an American oil-producing, transporting, refining, and marketing company. Its history as one of the world's first and largest multinational corporations ended in 1911, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled, in a landmark case, that Standard Oil was an illegal monopoly. Historic piece with a valuable quartet of signatures from historic American businessmen.
