Hartford, Connecticut, 1789. £7. 6/-, I/C Treasury Receipt to be paid in Spanish Milled Dollars with 6% interest in Gold or Silver signed by Jed (Jedediah) Huntington as Treasurer of the State of Connecticut. Black text with black border, Endorsements written on back, S/N 2235, Cut cancelled at center. Jedediah Huntington (1743-1818) was a key figure in Connecticut during and after the American Revolution. He led the Connecticut militia and served as a brigadier general in the Continental Army, playing a vital role in major campaigns. After the war, he returned to Connecticut and became the first Collector of Customs for New London, managing trade and revenue. Huntington remained active in state affairs, helping guide Connecticut through the post-war period and into the early years of the United States. VF condition.
