In 1927 George B. Storer decided to purchase the WTAL radio station in Toledo, Ohio from which Storer Broadcasting was born. In the 1950's as television broadcasting boomed, the company entered the television market starting WSPD-TV in Toledo and purchasing several television stations in other markets. Storer Broadcasting also purchased Northeast Airlines in the 1960's. Eventualy most of this broadcasting empire was broken up and sold to either Fox, NBC or Viacom.
