Sudan/British Administration. 1884. 2500 Piastres, P-S109, Issued Siege of Khartoum banknote, S/N 1827, PMG graded Choice Uncirculated 63 with comment "Ink Stamp". With signature and seal of General Gordon. This is one of the famous British/Sudanese banknotes smuggled out of Sudan in 1885, after the siege of the capital city of Khartoum. These notes were issued by famous British general, Charles Gordon, to pay his troops during that siege. All of them were thought to have been destroyed by the fanatical conquerors, but a few were saved and smuggled out of Sudan. There are less than 3000 known to exist, Very Rare. Only 4 grade higher out of 22 graded in the PMG census. Rarely found this nice.
