Memphis, Tennessee, April 5, 1858; $100 Interest paying Obsolete Banknote, or five-year Circulating bond, Serial No. 28; promises to pay H. W. Davis or bearer “at the Branch of the Planters’ Bank of Tennessee at Memphis” sixty months after date; printed in black with ornate border and left oval vignette of a Mississippi River steamboat at a landing; margin text gives the legal description of the Arkansas real estate securing the debt; lower half retains a complete panel of ten semi-annual interest coupons (Nos. 1–10), each noting security by deed of trust recorded at Crittenden C.H., Arkansas, nine miles from Memphis; coupons and face with bold manuscript signatures and several pen cancellations with ink burns; Choice VF condition or better. Rare circulating Obsolete bond.
