1901-1910. P-Unlisted. 5ct; 10ct; $1. Large Die Proofs printed on white paper with large margins and plate numbers. Issued scrip pieces were printed on cardboard and cut to the circular shape and printed on front and back. The Kirby Lumber Corporation was organized in 1901. Its founder, John Henry Kirby, a well-known lumberman and timber buyer, had large interests in Southeast Texas and the growing city of Houston. At its peak, the Kirby Lumber Corporation operated some seventeen sawmills and a similar number of logging camps, cutting the timber from more than 900,000 acres of virgin pineland. Only 2 proofs of each denomination were found in archive. ABNC.
