$50, Jefferson on top, “temporary” bond with “cherry” red color, highly embossed and retains three of the four original coupons. Unknown to most collectors, these temporary bonds are a subset of bonds that are among the scarcest; as once the 4th coupon came due they were exchanged at no cost to the “long” bonds that resumed this series. The reverse in dark chocolate brown color features a classic American Bald Eagle and a strongly embossed Treasury Seal. Appears VF but there is a very strong horizontal fold through Jefferson's forehead, still rare and attractive.
