Isthmus of Panama, (Ley May 22nd), March 17, 1827, 20 Pesos, P-Unlisted, Issued by the Panama Commissioner of the Department of War and to be paid by the isthmus treasury department. Panama broke with Spain in 1821 and joined a union of Nueva Granada (Colombia), Ecuador, and Venezuela – named the Republic of Gran Colombia. When the latter dissolved in 1830, Panama and Nueva Granada stayed joined. Nueva Granada later became the Republic of Colombia. VF condition with endorsements on the bottom. Rare, historic and very early Panama and Colombia fiscal document.
