New York. Lot of 2 I/C bonds. First is an 1853 dated $1000 bond issued by Troy & Rutland Railroad Co., Fine with some rough edges; Second is an 1851 dated $1000 bond issued by Troy, Salem, & Rutland Rail Road Company signed by Jay Gould as one of the Trustees. The signature is complete and uncancelled and rarely seen this nice. Jason Gould, (May 27, 1836 _ December 2, 1892) was an American railroad magnate and financial speculator who is generally identified as one of the robber barons of the Gilded Age. His sharp and often unscrupulous business practices made him one of the wealthiest men of the late nineteenth century.
