18--, ca.1887. 100 Shs. Specimen stock certificate. Green border. Eagle vignette. The American Cattle Trust was modeled largely after the Standard Oil Trust. The concept and purpose of the Cattle Trust by Eastern capitalists was to organize and control the western cattle market, erase range and water rights and monopolize the cattle industry and wipe out the independent cattlemen. Due to internal squabbling at every level of the company, it fell apart and went bankrupt in 1890. Historic certificate of a dark and ugly period of the western cattle and cattle ranching industry. Red specimen overprints. VF condition with light toning of paper. Rare. ABNC.
