Lot of 18 chromolithograph Christmas postcards, primarily used and postally cancelled, bearing 1¢ green Washington stamps with legible postmarks including New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, dated 1907 to 1917. Publishers include Raphael Tuck & Sons and other American and European printers, with a mix of embossed and standard divided-back issues. Subjects depicted include Santa at rooftop chimney scene; Santa climbing through window with poinsettias; embossed Santa beside decorated tree; children interacting with Santa figure; Victorian-style children at bedside; child before fireplace with Santa imagery; Santa with sack delivering gifts; humorous Santa seated at table with verse; Santa with children and toys; domestic Christmas scenes with family and fireplace; Santa reading or writing with calendar motif; Santa reclining on rooftop; child looking out window at Santa; Santa portrait vignette; holly and floral Christmas greetings; sleigh and angelic holiday imagery; and additional sentimental Christmas verse designs. The group reflects early 20th-century Christmas postcard production, emphasizing Santa Claus iconography, domestic warmth, and decorative holiday motifs. Condition ranges from Good to Very Fine overall, with some cards showing corner wear, light creasing, or minor surface wear consistent with handling and postal use. The embossed Santa tree scene, Raphael Tuck & Sons examples, and rooftop Santa compositions are the strongest individual pieces in the grouping. (18). Sold ñAS ISî no returns accepted.
