The auction will take place in our new office at 1580 Lemoine Ave., Suite 7, Fort Lee, NJ 07024
ND (ca.1900-1940?). 14 different proof engravings by Edwin Forbes. During the Civil War he became the leading illustrative artist for Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. Sizes of the engravings vary from 4 by 6 inches up to 8 by 10 inches. Images includes slave images; soldiers marching behind cannon and many others. All are printed in black on thin white card. Most have captions and a number of them have his signature engraved into theplate. Date of printing unknown, but the original printings were first released in 1876. 3 or 4 have hand written signatures of Edwin Ford, but may be modern forgeries or copies. All are in nice condition, but no extra borders or margins.
