The auction will take place in our new office at 1580 Lemoine Ave., Suite 7, Fort Lee, NJ 07024
1830-1850's. Proof. 6 different proofs printed on india paper and mounted on manila cards with plate numbers on vignettes and cards. Mostly used on obsolete banknotes, checkes, drafts or stock certificates. Images include 1) Woman holding wheat with sailboat behind her. 2) Recling woman in garden. Micro lettering beneath her states "Des.(designed), drawn & eng. (raved) by GEO.W.Hatch". Hatch was president of ABNCo. from 1863 to 1866. This is possibly a new engraving attributed to him. 3) Nude allegorical boys with globe, map, book and ship in background. 4) Allegorical woman, man with anvil and hammer and helmeted Mercury behind them. Micro lettering beneath them states "Designed, drawn & Engraved by Freeman Rawdon". 5) Nude child with cornucopia, coins and safe holding oval plate. 6) Neptune with "Liberty" with U.S. flag and shield in chariot being pulled by seahorses. All attributed to RWH&E and predecessor firms. All vignettes in Fine to XF condition with some light glue staining or toning. All unique in archive in this format. RWHE.
