1840-1850's. Proof. 8 different scenes with Native American Indians. Most were used on obsolete banknotes, Stocks, bonds and drafts. Printers include RWH&E (3); TC&Co.(2); BC&Co.(2); and DW&Co. The vignettes range from 1 to 3 inches in size. Images include 1). Patriotic Native American woman with U.S. shield; 2). Compound portrait pair of 2 Native Americans; 3). Portrait in oval; 4). Native American sitting and pondering old building with steamboat in background; 5, 6). Native Americans shooting bow and arrows; 7, 8). Native Americans standing in impressive poses. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila card with plate numbers at top of the card and on the india paper. All are cut down large die proofs. There may be some light foxing or glue staining , but overall a choice group. Please inspect. Rare group of early Native American indian vignettes, some very familiar.
