1840-1860's. Proof. 3 different scenes with Native Americans encounters with colonists. Most were used on obsolete banknotes, stocks, bonds and drafts. Printers include RWH&E; TC&Co. and ABNCo.. The vignettes range from 2 to 3 inches in size. Images include 1). "Eliot preaching to the indians, Nonamtum, 1646"; 2). Native Americans cooking something in a big pot; 3). "Pocahontas" saving a white man from being killed. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila card with plate numbers at top of the card and on the india paper. All are cut down large die proofs. There may be some light foxing or glue staining , but overall a choice group. Please inspect. Rare group of early Native American indian vignettes, some very familiar.
