The auction will take place in our new office at 1580 Lemoine Ave., Suite 7, Fort Lee, NJ 07024
1840-1850's. Proof. 7 different scenes with sailors. Most were used on obsolete banknotes, Stocks, bonds and drafts. Printers include BC&Co.(4); BA&Co. (1); DW&Co (1).; RWH&E (1) and one that is unattributed. The vignettes range from 2 to 3 inches in size. Images include 1). Sailors looking out to sea (Marine Bank No.2 is in micro letters to the right of the vignette); 2). Allegorical Native American woman with sailor and flag; 3) to 7). sailors sitting and standing in various poses. All are printed on india paper and mounted on manila card with plate number at top of the card and on the india paper. All are cut down large die proofs. All have light foxing or glue staining and 2 have internal wrinkles and small tears from mounting. Please inspect. Rare group of early vignettes.
