Washington, D.C., May 9, 1918, $50 U.S. Treasury WWI Third Liberty Loan (Short) Bond PCGS (AU 55PPQ) This bearer bond originally had 4 attached coupons which were redeemed. This series of bonds which paid interest for just two years were the forerunner to the 3rd (Long, a ten year) bond. The bond exhibits an additional couple of minor folds, but the red overprint is quite bold and with the designation of AU 55 PPQ the paper is original and quite crisp. (From the Patriot Collection)
