1850-52. 10 different vignettes. 1) Full face obsolete banknote undertint proof of sailors, "spinners", anchor, cattle, farmers and harbor. Light glue stains. 7.25 by 3 inches. Imprint of DBC. 2) "Spring and Summer" title. Obsolete banknote undertint proof of 2 allegorical women, one dropping flowers. 3),4) 2 different "bookend" proofs that are similar in composition but slightly different designs. Possibly used on obsolete banknotes, checks or some decorative piece. Both have young women in oval with different allegorical symbols for industry, literature, music and carpentry tools flanking them. No imprint. 5),6) 2 different but related obsolete banknote undertint proofs. One has young women feeding chickens and turkeys and the other proof has young man feeding pigs. Possibly utilized on the opposite ends of an obsolete banknote together. Both with RWHE imprints. 7) Country scene with family stripping leaves off tree with child and dog in foreground. BCC and 1855 date imprint on bottom. 8),9) 2 different compound proofs with a total of 4 vignettes. One has RWH imprint, the other has RWHE imprint. Includes cornucopia, barrels and allegorical woman. 10) Compound proof of anvil and engraving of a title "Golden Rose" and "Eng. by Cyrus Durand, NY". Proof has imprint of Durand, Perkins, NY on bottom. Rare vignettes. Most unique in archive. Condition ranges from VG to Fine + with light foxing and light glue stains on some.
