1840-1850's. Proof. 2 similar vignette proofs printed on india paper and mounted on the same manila card with plate numbers on vignettes and on card. Mostly used on obsolete banknotes, stock certificates, checks, drafts and security printed documents. The card has considerable archival notations relating to the vignettes. Evidently the top vignette is the original and was cracked while the bottom one has had the engraving reworked on it. Printer is unattributed. Notations request the cracked die be cancelled after the bottom vignette die is annealed. Both are in VF condition with minor glue staining or toning on the top one. Unique in archive.
